My Ideal Destination: Anywhere that makes me feel slightly uncomfortable. Like I'm going to pushing my boundaries and experiencing something profound. If I had to choose one place it would be India. I have had several friends go there and have life changing experiences. I love that their culture is so different, but there is this underlying connection between people that transcends cultural differences. I'm attracted to the religion, food, dance and colors of India as well as to exploring the slums and how the WTO and IMF along with India's government are changing the situations of millions of people (in both good and bad ways). My interest in India was also sparked because I just studied under Professor Ananya Roy, who is from India and taught us so much about global poverty and non-profits in India.
