My Ideal Destination: My ideal travel destination would be a Spanish speaking country, where I could utilize and practice my Spanish, or another country where I don’t know the native tongue. I lived with three Argentineans in Spain and fell in love with their accent. To me it sounds like a mezcla (mix) of Italian, French and Spanish. I would love to be surrounded by the Argentinean accent to pick up a few things. In regards to a country where I don’t speak the language, I have never been to Asia but have wanted to see some of its countries. I am so excited Japan and Thailand are on this year’s itinerary. I am very open-minded and I think it would be great to spend a night or two in a Buddhist temple. Second, I love the outdoors so my ideal travel destination has to be full of beautiful, natural wonders that I can hike, bike, sky dive, swim, or simply walk to and explore. I’ve heard such great things about the Blue Mountains in Australia. I love rock climbing so one of my ideal adventures at this destination would be doing just that. Also, riding on a camel to see the ancient pyramids of Egypt would be awesome! Don’t get me wrong though, as much as I love the outdoors the indoors offer a unique perspective of a region’s culture. So my ideal travel destination needs to be beautiful inside and out. Awww isn’t that sweet? I have an insatiable curiosity for learning so my ideal travel destination has to be full of history and interesting facts that you wouldn’t normally learn in a book. Seeing that the Incan civilization was a technological marvel, full of mysteries, I would love to learn more about their deep-rooted history and culture. I sometimes find that the best way to do this is by talking to the locals. I love to dance. I need a place that can keep my heart and feet in rhythm with the beat. I love exploring each culture’s musical taste through dance. Whether it would be dancing to the tango in Buenos Aires, learning the samba in Rio, or jumping to the techno sounds in Berlin my feet won’t stand still. Also, I was a professional belly dancer my second year in college, so it would be nice to brush up my belly dancing skills and learn the difference between the techniques used in Egypt compared to Turkey. I love a culture that’s vibrant and alive. A place that dances, sings, and encourages others to participate is definitely where I want to be. You can be sure that dancing in front of the camera will be one way I will express myself should I be the next STA World Traveler Intern. Lastly, I LOVE TO EAT! My ideal travel destination needs to be bursting with flavor. I don’t always have to try the local cuisine at a restaurant either. In fact, I would prefer to meet some locals who would invite me over for a traditional meal. I would bring the beverage of choice! There is so much more to add regarding my ideal travel destination.
