FAQ

How many applicants usually apply for this position?

We carefully review every submission. Our panel of judges reviews every video and reads each application submitted through the Web site. Whether we have 1,000 or 10,000 entries, each entry will get the same level of consideration.

Does the Intern receive any compensation besides the free travel and accommodations?

STA Travel provides the Interns a stipend to cover food and other necessary expenses. It is the responsibility of the Interns to budget accordingly.

Other necessary expenses include Internet and phone access necessary to do the job, replacing broken equipment and transfers to and from airports. The stipend is not intended to cover any personal gifts or souvenirs. The Interns will have to budget accordingly based on current conditions in the countries they are visiting.

For the countries visited, are visas and other requirements needed?

Visas, health vaccinations and other requirements vary by country. These issues will be addressed prior to departure.

STA Travel will cover the costs of any visas and vaccinations required to participate in the Internship for the Interns that are selected.

Will the World Traveler Intern be traveling alone?

Our World Traveler Interns will be working side-by-side and always traveling amongst other young people from around the world.

Couples, friends, brothers and sisters, and family members can apply to the Internship, but there is no guarantee that both people will be selected for the Internship. However, each person must submit a separate application for the Internship.

What are you looking for in the application video? Are there any video requirements?

The application video is your chance to show STA Travel what you can do behind the camera. Follow the video requirements outlined in the World Traveler Intern introductory video and you should be set.

Your video is you introducing yourself to STA Travel. Muster all of your creativity and know-how to show the judges that you are the perfect choice for the World Traveler Intern. This is your chance to impress us; we are giving you free reign to choose how to demonstrate that in your video.

My school term ends after June 1, does this mean I can’t apply?

You must be available to travel between May 27, 2009 and August 26, 2009. If you are unable to be free during that period of time, we will not be able to consider your application.

In addition to the time commitment for the actual travel, consider the time that will be required to prepare for the trip. If you know you will have a packaged schedule and not be able to adequately prepare for the trip, you might want to wait until next year.
